We had such a wonderful holiday season but I’ve found it rather difficult finding time to update our blog. So here we go…
Thanksgiving was great! We’re so lucky…we have so many people who want to feed us! It does break my heart to think of those that have no one to share the holidays with and here we are complaining about having too MANY celebrations to attend. We all simply ate until we were stuffed! Thursday we had lunch with the Jones’s in Effingham. Tyler’s Uncle Jim and Aunt Paula had all of us over for a wonderful dinner. They have a beautiful home and it’s so cozy! We love going there. Thursday evening we made an appearance at my Dad’s sisters home. My Aunt June and Uncle Mike always have large gatherings at their house. It’s so nice just being with family. Friday afternoon we had lunch at the Moore ’s. Tyler ’s Dad’s family is always an adventure to be around. There is always a few good laughs had by all! Saturday was Thanksgiving with the Allison’s at Adrienne and Joey’s house. The kids had a ball playing, running from room to room, yelling, laughing, and occasionally crying…but all in all it was a perfect day!
The Sunday after Thanksgiving I decided to put our tree up. Tyler had to work and so while he slept Lucy, Will and I decorated the house. And let me tell you they were a HUGE help!!! ;) Will was a bit confused about why we were dragging out all of this stuff but Lucy was into it from the get-go! It was so fun to see them get excited over the smallest things. I got their stockings out and I swear they carried them around for days!
I decided this year that I would get all of my shopping and wrapping done early in the season so I could just enjoy the few weeks leading up to Christmas. SO... early…VERY early.. on the morning Friday November 26th I got up and put my running shoes on! I got to Wal-Mart in Flora just a stroke before midnight on that fateful day and I marched into battle like a pro…I emerged with 1 Shark steamer mop, 1 12 piece set of Tupperware, 1 Nintendo DS, 1 Hot Wheels race track with 4 hot Wheels cars included, 2 Colorwonder coloring books with markers included, 1 HP laptop and 3 Nintendo DS games. Boy was I proud of myself! Tyler had wanted a laptop for quite sometime and I figured since he works so hard at work and at home he deserves to have what he wants. Now I love it probably just as much if not more than he.
Christmas was wonderful! I can’t imagine that it ever gets old seeing your child enjoy the holiday season! We had a Christmas celebration the weekend before Christmas with my Dad’s family. It was so fun…there are so many kids all around the same age. It’s amazing to see them all together. I’m proud of all of my cousins…they all have such nice families! It’s so awesome that we are all so close and get to see each others children grow!
On Christmas Eve day we met at my Mom and Dad’s for brunch. Good times were had by all…I am blessed that I was placed in the family I belong to…they are my perfect fit! :) All of the kids received beanbags from my parents. Allison and Benjamin loved theirs but Lucy and Will weren’t so sure what to do with them. However, it was only a matter of time before Ben showed Lucy how to get the best use out of them...he started at the bathroom door and then shot across the living room and did a perfect running dive into the pile of beanbags! Well that's all it took and the rest of the day it was....1, 2, 3 GO!!! REAL safe I know...but they were having the best time!
We went to the service at our church on Christmas Eve…Lucy and Will were so tired and cranky from beanbag jumping that we couldn’t even pay attention. I HOPE next year they are more cooperative! (AND maybe I've learned my lesson and they need a nap before...we'll see?!)
Christmas morning was a blast! They enjoyed all of their gifts and we enjoyed watching their eyes light up! We broke down and bought our 2 ½ year old a Nintendo DSi. I know it sounds insane but she can operate that game better than some seven year olds I’ve seen! She’s so much like her dad! Will was mostly excited about his stocking and the Twizzlers he found inside…he’s so much like his momma ;)
We spent New Year’s at the Czyzewski’s! I must confess ...that is the best place to party! We all made it until midnight…we rang in the New Year with horns, hollers and hugs. It was one of the best nights I’ve had in a long time! As I hugged my babies and kissed Tyler DeWayne I just had this feeling that 2011 is going to be a GREAT year!
